What’s very interesting about this country is that although it’s an independent nation they still recognize Queen Elizabeth II as the Head of State.

Bahrain, known officially as the Kingdom of Bahrain is a country in the Middle East located between the Qatar peninsula and Saudi Arabia. The capital of Bahrain is the ultra modern city of Manama. Bahrain is widely known for its rich oil land, pearls, and many world heritage sites. The currency used there is the Bahraini Dinar. This country is actually an archipelago that consists of 33 islands.
According to historians, Bahrain is supposedly the original Garden of Eden. There stands the oldest Tree of Life which is 32 feet high and is over 400 years old. The Qal’ at al-Bahrain which is the harbor and capital of the ancient land of Dilmun and the Bahrain Pearling Trail were declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2005 and 2012. If you wish to get a feel of the old Arabic architecture you should visit Riffa as it’s a historical jewel. It’s the perfect destination for people who are attracted to the Middle East but still want to enjoy the advantages of modern-day life.
Another country that starts with b is Bangladesh. Bangladesh is located in South Asia and the country’s official name is the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The capital of this country known for its dense greenery is Dhaka. Bangladesh is full of beautiful green landscapes, it has numerous waterways and has the longest beach in the world — Cox’s Bazar. The word Bangladesh actually means “the people of Bengal ” in the Bangla language. Bangladesh is also the only country in the world that has six seasons instead of four.

A trip to Bangladesh is definitely an exotic one as this county is very in tune with its culture and can offer an authentic experience of the South Asian way of life.
Another one of our countries that start with the letter b is a country you must have heard of as it is the birthplace of megastar Rihanna. It is a country in the Carribean, Barbados. The capital of this sunny country is the wonderful city of Bridgetown. Barbados is an independent British Commonwealth Nation with many considered to be traditional British traditions like an afternoon cup of tea and cricket. Barbados is completely surrounded by the Atlantic ocean and has stunning tropical nature.
Bridgetown has one of the most beautiful beaches, the Pebbles beach that has perfect white sand and crystal clear water. This country mostly thrives on rich tourism and the currency there is the Barbadian dollar. The national animal of Barbados is the flying fish and is known as the land of the flying fish which is traditionally served on Friday. This country is rich in marvelous beaches, magnificent botanical gardens… If you ever visit this lovely country you won’t be able to get enough of exotic landscaped rainforests and the magnificent beaches.
Belarus is a country in Europe and is another one of our countries beginning with b. The official name of this country is the Republic of Belarus and is a country located in the Eastern Europe region bordered by Russia. The capital of Belarus is the compelling city of Minsk. Minsk is characterized by Soviet-era architecture with some of the most iconic architectural buildings from that era. The National Library of Belarus is one of them. The currency in this country is the Belarusian ruble.
What’s very interesting about this country is that 40% of it is covered in forest. Belarus is often referred to as “the lungs of Europe ” because of this. And the green stripe on their flag actually represents the forest. The bison is their national animal as they are the heaviest surviving mammals in Europe. Pretty symbolic. Belarus is famous for its fantastic sweets both authentic Belarusian and from the Soviet era. According to legend Belarus may have the largest amount of buried treasure in Europe. So if you ever plan to visit this country don’t forget to bring a shovel.
Belgium is a lovely country in Europe and is a country that starts with b. It is a country located in Western Europe and they actually have a king — King Phillipe of Belgium. The capital of this old country is Brussels. Belgium is mainly known for its breathtaking medieval towns and exquisite Renaissance architecture. It has three official languages French, Dutch and German. Belgium is also famous for its mouth-watering chocolate, waffles, fries and great beer.
Antwerp, the second largest city in this country is actually the capital of diamonds. 84% of rough diamonds pass through this amazing city to be polished and prepared for distribution. The currency there is the euro. Apart from Brussels and Antwerp, we must mention Bruges. Bruges is an authentic medieval town that will surely make you feel like you’ve been thrown back in time. This country of fine chocolate and even finer beer is the second in the world that decriminalized homosexuality in 1795 to be exact. If you’re into medieval towns cobbled streets, wide canals and lovely town squares you will love Belgium for sure.
Belize is a Carribean country located in Central America and is one of the countries starting with b. The capital of this ancient country is Belmopan. Belize has a very rich marine life and jungles. It is an absolutely exotic place and perfect for people who are looking for an adventure. Belize used to be, hundreds of years ago, one of the most important Maya trade routes. There you can see over 900 ancient Maya ruins and sacred sites like Xunauntunch that offer scenic views like no other.
Belize is the home of many wild cats and they have the only jaguar preserve in the world. They are also known for magnificent scuba diving sites like The Blue Hole. They are also the home of black howler monkeys known as the loudest species of monkeys in the world. We guess that instead of roosters they have black howlers to wake them up. Benin is the birthplace of the vodun (voodoo) religion. Voodoo is actually practiced by 17% of people there and is widely accepted as an official religion. Benin has the most stable democracy in the whole of Africa and is a very small country.
People don’t like being photographed there as Voodoo teaches that taking one’s picture traps a part of the soul. Benin exports 80% of cotton and their currency is West African CFA franc. What’s very interesting about their culture is that they are very fond of pythons unlike the majority of the world. They can even sleep and eat in people’s homes. Pendjari National Park located in Benin offers safaris where you can see elephants and lions. Grand Popo ocean beach is probably one of the best kept tourist secrets in Africa.
This may be one of the most controversial countries starting with b because of the famous Bermuda triangle. Bermuda is a cluster of 138 islands in the North Atlantic ocean and is a British Overseas Territory. The capital of Bermuda is the captivating city of Hamilton. So captivating that even John Lennon had a house there. Bermuda thrives on tourism and offshore insurance companies. Although Bermuda has its own currency, the Bermuda dollar, US dollars are widely accepted.
Bermuda is famous for its fantastic water activities including sailing, scuba diving, and exploring coral reefs, shipwrecks, underwater caves and for enjoying the view of incredible marine life. Crystal Cave in Bermuda is one of the loveliest places anyone can explore. What’s interesting about this country is that there is no corporate income tax, making it a very attractive place for the wealthy. It is definitely a tropical paradise and especially great for people who enjoy exploring the depths of the ocean. This is a country that should be on everyone’s bucket list.
Considered to be one of the happiest places on Earth, Bhutan is another county starting with b. Bhutan is a country located in South Asia on the Himalayas eastern edge. The capital of this sacred country is Thimphu. Bhutan is widely known for its monasteries, fortresses (dzongs), and striking landscapes. The official language of this country is Dzongkha. Bhutan is also the capital of Buddhism and instead of the western ideal of the Gross National Product they have the Gross National happiness.
They believe that this is the real ideal founded on preserving the natural environment, sustainable growth, and cultural values. This is also the only country in the world where its citizens have a constitutional obligation to protect their environment. This is also the first country in the world that outlawed tobacco in 2004. Bhutan’s currency is the Indian rupee. Although many want to visit this magnificent country the price one needs to pay is very high. The cost of visiting this country is at least $250 since that’s what you’ll pay daily. So, yes a day in Bhutan costs $250 and if you are traveling alone you have to pay $40 plus. We believe it’s worth it but for many, sadly, unattainable.
And the list of countries beginning with b continues. Next, we have Bolivia. Bolivia is a country located in South America known for its many breathtaking sites and scenic landscapes. The capital of Bolivia is the wonderful city of Sucre. Sucre Is the heart of Bolivia as this the city where their independence was declared. Sucre is a unique town with interesting architecture and bustling streets. Bolivia is famous for its magnificent nature and most notably its salts flats. One of the most famous salts flats is the mesmerizing Uyuni Salt Flat.
Other mesmerizing landscapes include Isla del Pescado filled with cacti, Isla Inchacuasi, Laguna Colorada with its unique red lake that is the home to rare flamingos. Bolivia is probably a country with the largest amount of official languages counting 37 official languages. The main languages spoken are Spanish, Quechua, Guarani, and Aymara. There is an interesting tradition in Bolivia where dried llama foetuses are sold on the street that can be offered to Mother Nature in return for blessings. The currency used there is Bolivian boliviano.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
We are now traveling to a country starting with b located in the Balkans, the rocky Bosnia and Herzegovina. The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the multicultural city of Sarajevo. Bosnia and Herzegovina is known for its breathtaking nature, medieval villages, clear lakes, and many rivers. The country’s nickname is “Heart Shaped Land” because of the country’s slight heart-shaped land.
Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is packed with historic monuments, fantastic mosques and a well preserved historic quarter Baščaršija which is the bustling heart of the city. Bosnians are lovers of coffee and have one of the best black coffees in the world. That can be backed up by the fact that they have the tenth highest consumption of coffee per capita in the world. So if you’re a coffee lover yourself, you shouldn’t miss the chance to try Bosnian black coffee prepared in their traditional way. Apart from Sarajevo, Mostar is also considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. If you ever decide to visit the Balkans you should definitely travel through Bosnia and Herzegovina as well, as the country is full of outstanding landscapes and lovely towns. The currency used there is Bosnia and Herzegovina convertible mark.
Botswana is a country located in Southern Africa and is one of the countries that start with the letter b. The capital of this fantastic country is a very interesting city Gaborone. Botswana has one of a king and outstanding landscapes and is mostly characterized by the exceptional Kalahari Desert. Botswana has the largest elephant preservation in the world. It is also the home of many beloved wild animals such as cheetahs, giraffes, rhinos, wild dogs, and not so much loved but equally important hyenas. If you are a lover of elephants, you shouldn’t miss visiting the Chobe National Park.
The capital city Gaborone has a Mokolodi National Reserve that offers game drives and rhino and giraffe tracking. It is also a great country for mountain climbing and to generally spend some quality time in nature. Makadikadi Basin is one of the largest salt flats in the world and its outstanding scenic landscape will surely have you out of breath. A fun fact about Botswana is that although its the size of France, compared to France’s population of 66.9 million, Botswana has only 2 million. Zimbabwe is just 150 meters away from Botswana so if you happen to be there, you can also visit this country. The currency there is Botswana pula.
A country loved by many and one of the countries starting with b is Brazil. Brazil is a country located in South America and its official name is the Federative Republic of Brazil. It is the largest country in South America. The capital of this magnificent country is Brasilia. Brazil is probably best known in the world for its large and vibrant carnival festival that has all of those beautiful women dancing with large feathers, acrobats and so on. The name Brazil actually comes from a tree named brazilwood.
The official language is Portuguese and it is the only country in South America that speaks this language. Brazil has a rich nature as the Amazon also known as the “Lungs of the World ” is located here. One of the top destinations in Brazil includes Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Salvador. Brazilians are crazy about soccer and practically every single town has a team of its own. That’s how much they enjoy this sport. Samba music and samba dance which was invented in the 1800s is still very much popular and not just in Brazil but across the world. The currency used in Brazil is the Brazilian real.
British Virgin Islands
The British Virgin Islands or just simply the Virgin Islands is another country that starts with b. It is a British Overseas Territory composed of four main islands. The capital of the British Virgin Islands is located on the largest island Tortola and the name of the city is Road Town. The nature of the British Virgin Islands is practically untouched (that’s probably why they’re called the Virgin Islands) and have some of the most picturesque and beautiful nature in the world.
It is a popular yachting destination and is mostly known for its reef-lined beaches. Some of the most popular beaches include The Baths, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and many, many more. These beaches are simply out of this world and can’t measure with the cleanliness of the sea and the beauty of the sand. Although a tropical paradise, most of us probably won’t ever get the chance to enjoy the beauty of these islands. But at least we have the internet. The currency used on the British Virgin Islands is the United States dollar.
Brunei is one of the countries that start with the letter b. Brunei is a country located in Asia and it is a very tiny nation surrounded by Malaysia and the South China Sea. The capital of this enchanting country is Bandar Seri Begawan. Brunei is widely known for its picture perfect mosques that are stunning and elegant. Some of the most popular mosques include Omar Ali Saifuddien and the Ash Shaleen mosque.

Next we have Bulgaria. Another country that starts with b. Bulgaria is a county located in the Balkans. Bulgaria is a pretty multicultural country with influences from Greek, Slavic and Ottoman tradition. The capital of Bulgaria is Sofia, an ancient city dating from the 5th century B.C. Burkina Faso is a country located in West Africa. It is bordered by six countries and the official language is French. And of course it is one of the countries beginning with b. The capital of Burkina Faso has a quite interesting name — it’s called Ouagadougou and is often shortened to just Ouaga. Burkina Faso is a pretty flat country. The highest mountain Mount Tenokorou is also the highest point and has an altitude of just 2,451 feet. The county is divided into fertile land with green scenery in the south and has a complete dessert in the north.
It also has a number of National Parks with Arli National Park being the most popular. Arli National Park is a home to lions, elephants, baboons, hippos, buffalos, warthogs and many more. Just like in The Lion King Movie. Apart from beautiful wildlife they also have stunning waterfalls. The ruins of Loropeni are an UNESCO World Heritage site, the first of this country added in 2009. Another interesting city is Bobo-Dioulasso that has some one of a kind architecture. The currency used is West African CFA franc.
And the last on our list of countries that start with the letter b is Burundi. Burundi is a country located in East Africa. The official name of Burundi is the Republic of Burundi. The capital of this country is the city of Gitega Burundi has plenty of major rivers that include the Nayaru, Malagarasi and of course Lake Tanganyika. This lake is the second oldest freshwater lake in the world. And it is divided between Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zamina and Burundi, of course.
Burundi has three National Parks and those are Kibira National Park which is a small rainforest, Nyungwe Forest National Park and Ruvubu National Park. One of the most stunning sceneries in Burundi are the Kagera Falls which are a spectacular group of waterfalls. The city of Bujumbura in Burundi which was the former capital, offers safari trips and wildlife watching. Although it’s a small country it has plenty of natural beauty.
